Filter flavors
Ladder, MS-20, Diode, Steiner, the polysynth chips, Morph and Multimode, the low-pass gate, Comb, Vowel and Resonator.
Module 5 gave you the four classic filters. This module opens the rest of the Type row: fifteen filters with a character of their own, from the warm Ladder and the famous polysynth chips to filters that ring at a pitch, talk, play a chord, or play the note themselves.
Every figure is interactive or playable, and every picture and sound was rendered by KiMiA’s own engine. Work through the five lessons in order. Each one ends with exercises at the keyboard and a short self-check; the last one adds a map for choosing a filter, a cheat sheet and a module check.
1. Download the course patches below: one KiMiA bank for the whole module. 2. In KiMiA, open the ••• menu next to Sound library and choose Import a bank. 3. Select the bank file. Its fifteen sounds appear in the library as the bank KiMiA Course · Module 6 · Filter flavors, all starting with “06 ·”.
When the course updates the bank, import the new file the same way: KiMiA offers to replace the older version, and your favorites and Set pads keep working.
You need KiMiA 1.0 or later, a MIDI keyboard, and headphones or monitors. Module 5 first: this module builds on its Cutoff, Resonance, envelope and Filter 2.
